Summer Programs
SLAM Brings Together all Academy Schools
Scholars from all Ascension Catholic Academy schools come together for Summer Language and Math (SLAM), a six-week program aimed at combating summer slide and providing a safe, enriching experience for scholars and peace of mind for their families.
Many Saint Peter Claver scholars from grades K-8 attend the program, which is held on the campus of Ascension Catholic School in north Minneapolis. Busing is provided from our school to Ascension, and after-program care is available at Saint Peter Claver.
SLAM is an academic program that provides a safe, caring, and constructive environment that focuses on extending learning throughout the summer. Our scholars build meaningful relationships with peers and teachers while improving their social, emotional and physical well-being. The academic focus is on math and language arts. SLAM transforms the summer break into a comprehensive experience of personal and intellectual development.
Field trips are planned to provide experiential learning and service. Trips in 2025 included a boat ride on the Mississippi, a visit to a climbing wall and a visit to the Como Zoo.
